PCA USA Kicks Off Premier Bodybuilding and Physique Event in Cullman, Alabama
PCA USA brings big changes to competitive bodybuilding and physique events in Alabama on June 15th. Top competitors will qualify for the national USA Finals, where they have the opportunity to become the first PCA USA Pros.
PCA USA, the American division of the international PCA Bodybuilding and Physique Association, announced today the upcoming Southeast Open in Cullman, Alabama. The Southeast Open is PCA USA’s first Alabama event and will be held on June 15, 2019 at the Cullman Civic Center. Top athletes from the show will be invited to the national USA Finals, where they will have the opportunity to become the first-ever PCA USA Pros.
PCA is well-known for providing athletes with an improved and exceptional competitive experience. As part of PCA USA’s athlete-centric approach, competitors are supported throughout their training, have additional divisions to choose from when competing, and once on stage will be assessed using clearly defined criteria for body condition, posing, and attire by a trained and fair judging panel.
The Southeast Open is organized by PCA USA promoter Jesse Calvert and Charles Wilson of National Fit Tribe. PCA USA is nationally overseen by PCA USA executives Ian Harrison and Kevin Taylor. Ian Harrison was a former professional bodybuilder, wrestler and held the title of Mr. Universe. Kevin Taylor is a financial executive and a former bodybuilding competitor, bringing over a decade of focused leadership in process improvements, operational excellence and member satisfaction to PCA USA.
“PCA is dedicated to the athlete experience,” said promoter Jesse Calvert. “I competed in an international PCA event in the United Kingdom in 2016 and was blown away by the difference. They choose exceptional venues, are extremely organized and they value the competitors. Now I am a part of this, bringing PCA to the southeast United States.”
In its second year in the USA, PCA is continuing to make changes that benefit the bodybuilding and physique community. One of the biggest developments for 2019 is that men’s bodybuilding will be broken down by height, not weight. It has been proven at an international level that similar heights on stage allow for more objective comparisons when comparing physiques.
The Southeast Open is a qualifier for the USA Finals, which will take place on October 26 in Florida. The top female and male athletes at the USA Finals will be given Pro Status. Plus, the PCA USA executive team will be building Team PCA USA from these qualifier events.
Team PCA USA members have the opportunity to compete at an international level at the PCA World Championships. The PCA World Championships is an elite, invite-only event, where leading PCA athletes compete with one another for the championship titles in their respective class, as well as a chance to win a portion of a significant prize fund.
Men’s events include bodybuilding, classic bodybuilding, masters, juniors, and disAbled bodybuilding, muscle model, and physique.
Women’s events include toned and trained bikini, toned, trained and athletic figure, masters and juniors classes, and disAbled bodybuilding.
